Nice ideas but when Im in clinic with my patients should I tell them first I am going to fail them alot of the time? How do you make medical cock ups on a survivable scale?

Patrick – Thanks, good point. A clinical trial with placebo is a controlled failure for the entire control arm of the trial, so I think controlled failure is a very important part of making medicine work better. And there’s a chapter on this – including evidence-based-medicine hero Archie Cochrane – in the book.
